#7 Trunk Shows

This New York Fashion Week, Rachel Zoe held her first presentation. Instead of attending shows, the stylist turned designer showed her RTW Spring 2012 collection. I thought holding a trunk show presentation instead of a runway show was a very smart choice for Rachel. Since many see her as a celebrity turned designer, this presentation let the audience get a closer look at all 30 of her looks. I believe her collections eliminated all the skeptics’ doubts about her abilities to design a collection that is just as good as her competitors like Alice + Olivia (also held a presentation). Some key pieces that I personally love include a lace top with a tailored pant, a royal purple jumper, a gold sequined gown with ruffled sleeve and belted waist detail, and lastly a black sequined gown with a very low back.

In my opinion, her collection reflected Rachel’s own personal style mixed with a feminine flair. Each look is cohesive with one another and each garment can be paired with different garment within the collection. According to Bergdorf Goodman’s Linda Fargo, Rachel’s fall collection is selling well at the Fifth Avenue store not only because of the name on the label, but because of the clothes and fit. So the question is will her Spring collection do just as well as her Fall collection? Maybe even better? What are your thoughts?

  1. I love Rachel Zoe! I get The Zoe Report in my email everyday. I totally agree that her decision to have a more intimate setting, like a trunk show, rather than a full blown fashion show was a smart move on her part. For some reason your pictures wouldn't load on my computer but I checked out her collection on a different site and I loved it. You can definitely pair different pieces within the collection, and all the clothes definitely have a Rachel Zoe vibe to them!

  2. I'm in love with your Blog. Every post is so interesting and it's kind of like an inspiration for me to blog too! Rachel Zoe did make a very smart move by having a trunk show instead of a fashion show. With a trunk show, it's possible to be more interactive and personal and allow the buyers to get up close with the collection! I personally do lover her collection too!
